I'm hedding up to Ironwood, Mi. at the end of the month with my lovely bride and two of my daughters, my brother-in-law lives up there.  I was just wondering if there are any musky lakes up that way as I've never been there before?  Any info on lakes and baits to bring would be greatly appreciated. thanks!!!

Lake Emily and those other Iron County lakes are a couple hours from Ironwood. Only about 30 minutes away to the South is Mercer, Wisconsin. I would recommend Lake of the Falls which i believe now has a public launch and Wilson lake. Both good numbers lakes if your looking for action but LotF seemed better. I did well on twitch baits and bronze fluted indiana blade bucktails.

Ton's of muskie water within 30-40 miles on the Wisconsin side. The Gile Flowage is probably the closest (~ 5 miles from Ironwood).

You could give Howie Meyer a call (Seven Islands Guide Service in Presque Isle WI) . I know Howie has fished extensively on both sides of the border in that area for over 35 years.

You might also speak to Jeff Roth- Senior Fisheries Biologist at the WI DNR office in Mercer WI (715-476-7847).

Have fun!

Chicagoan has some huge fish. Biggest Muskie I have ever seen came off a rockpile after a big buck. Deep, clear, whitefish and cisco forage. Some big smallies too.
