Location: Sun Prairie, WI | I have a 1989 mariner 75hp 2 stroke. Can I run some carb cleaner through the gas to help clean the carbs? I was thinking something like seafoam. Any advice would be great. Thanks |

Location: Ogden, Ut | I'm going to try the same thing w/ Quicksilver Power Tune. Directly into the carbs, not in the gas. My local outboard mechanic calls it 'Band-Aid in a can'. It's mainly for carbon buildup I think, but it certainly can't help but clean the carbs up a bit too.

| Seafoam is awesome stuff. We call it "mechanic in a can". I run this stuff in my 2-stroke sleds every year and have never had a problem. |

Location: davis,IL | I've been running Yammie four strokes for the last 8 years, but I'll tell you, Seafoam is a good "carb cleaner" for both 2 & 4 strokes. 4 Strokes are more or less an automobile engine turned on their side, but a 2 stroke is a different animal. Conventional "carb cleaners" or "injection cleaners" made for automotive use can damage a 2 stroke motor by acting as a solvent on the lubricating 2 stroke oil. So simply said, use products which are fuel friendly, like Seafoam, or a similar product, any of the outboard manufacturers offer products in this line. Tip 2, synthectic 2 stroke oil, I ran this stuff the last year and a half I had a 2 stroke (after the first tank or two, you WILL notice the difference).
