Location: New Brighton, MN | I just built a new casting deck up front on my boat. I'm just wondering what additional support structure underneath I can add to make the seat more rigid. It has a standard 9" base, and 5/8-3/4" plywood.
I'm considering just adding a 12"x14" sheet of plywood or aluminum underneath.
Whuddya think? |

Location: Cedar, MN | Another small piece like you mentioned will help and another good idea is to add 1" square tubing alum. or steel (with paint) length wise near the edges of your extra bottom peice of plywood. Cut the tubing as long as you have room for. That helps considerably.

Location: New Brighton, MN | Is the tubing somehow attached to the seat base or plywood? Do you have any pictures of this setup? |

Location: Cedar, MN | I cant get them on, too many kb's,it says to adjust server and I'm not that computer savvy, but the tubing is attached by screws and those flat nuts with the teeth that stick down to grip the wood. The nuts would be on the top of deck hammered down flush with deck wood in pre-drilled holes. Tubing underneath with screws going up through into nuts then cut off flush with deck if screws are long. That way you can re-tighten them even after carpet is installed. Hope this helps.Good luck |
