Well another show is done. What did you get? The turnout was slow, and the abscense of the casting tank hurt! Just like muskie fishing, the weather trumps everything else.

Here's my loot.

Bull Dawg Pounder (Spencer Berman & the boys sold the 2 lb'r I wanted) guess I'll have to direct order that one. After fishing with Spencer at PI, I decided I needed a couple of Dawgs.

Slammer 10" deep diver (new). This thing has big fish written all over it! Solid injected molded body- through wire. Everything about this bait says big fish!

Spanky Baits -> double black nickel blades with black prism tinsel tail. Spanky is a new company from Monroe WI. This one should catch fish!

Oh yeah, I also picked up 3 Shakespeare Alpha LCM-1 clamp on line counter's from Muskynightmare (Rob) at the swap meet. Like new, I should say I stole them! Lot's of baits & good conversation with the other muskie fanatic's.

Have fun!
Al

I'd have to agree that Friday's turnout wasn't the best but seemed like Saturday and Sunday were about the usual. Who knows? Anyhow I suspect most folks who really wanted to be there made it to the show. Possible that some of the guys who repeat another day or even all three shortened their visits this year. As to the tank being absent I was quite surprised that I didn't hear more complaints about that. My sense is that guys would have liked to have it there but were pretty understanding about the situation. It sure would be interesting to find out how many customers actually purchase a lure because they saw it tank tested. Some of the manufacturers who show video clips in the booth of their baits at work seemed like that was working for them.

Pete, While I can't speak for other vendor's at the show. The low attendance and the absence of the tank was a subject of discussion. Might I add that the absence of both were weather related. I guess it's just one of the hazards of having a show in Milw. WI in February.

As for the tank itself, I think it has an impact, I know it did for us at previous show's. It's much more effective to see the lure in a 3 dimensional environment and the person that's working it live, i.e., it's actually a little mini seminar. It's also nice that you can interact with the crowd and actually show and explain why the lure is unique, i.e., a Zalt is not the same as a Believer, a Zam is not the same a Rapala, nor is the Alien the same as any other plastic bait or any other glider.

The video clips are a fine tool. However, its two dimensional and just observing the crowd walking around, not many were really looking at the clips.

As for me I probably wouldn't have bought a Shumway Giant Flasher if I hadn't seen it in the tank at a previous show, in fact I bought two. Also when we did our tank demo's, booth traffic increased and our sales ratio increased (number of sales versus lookers) immediately after.

Have fun!
Al
