Location: Browerville, Minnesota | Have any of you ever fished or do you fish up in Rat Portage? I was looking at the maps the other night and it looks like there is some pretty good structure/current up in that area, lots of rocks as well I'm sure. Was thinking about maybe fishing it next summer if the trip up there from Ptarmigan was worth it. thanks |

I will be honest with you, if you stay near Ptarmigan, I would remain there. Rat has fish there, but not the caliber or number of fish that are in Ptarmigan. We fish predominately south of the Moore bay and stay in Kenora. |

Location: Browerville, Minnesota | Hi Will:
Thanks for the response. We actually stay at Ash Rapids and fish both Ptarmigan and Labryinth, with runs to the Big Narrows once or twice. Just thought that since we were pretty close, it might be worth looking at. Love Ptarmigan, lots of great fishing up there, and not many boats to be seen during the day. |

I may have to venture down that way next year. Labrynth looks great, not too much pressure ? Last year we had some guys run down that way and they ran into Bob M. and said they wouldn't go down that way for a while. They did say they saw a tanker though. |

Location: Browerville, Minnesota | Labyrinth is awesome to fish. Lots of good spots, and some dandy rock walls as you come into it. Plus once you work your way through the bay, you can hit Shoal Lake Narrows which is pretty awesome as well. As for the pressure.......I have been going up to LOTW for over 10 years now, and except for other boats in our fishing group, I have seen other boats in there maybe 4 or 5 times. One of the reasons that we love fishing it. I know Bob M fishes it, as our group has run into him before as well.
Have seen some super fish and also caught some great fish in there as well, both in the summer and in the fall trolling. Run the cranks right on the edge of the breaks, bouncing them off of the rocks and caught some heavies.
If you get the chance, run down and check it out. If you are there between 12-19 July, you might run into me! |
