I am thinking of upgrading the old boat and am looking at about a 200HP 4-stroke. I have trolled with a 75 2-stroke and a 115 4-stroke with no problem. My question is, has anyone any experience trolling for muskie with a 200 HP 4-stroke motor. I generally troll in the 2.5 to 3.5 mph range. I know, many will say get a kicker. My problem is I do alot of what I call run and gun trolling on LOW. It amounts to many shorter trolling runs with some longer runs inbetween with the larger motor. If I had to put down a small kicker for every short trolling run, lets just say it would get old in a hurry. Again, just asking for anyone with experience trolling for muskies with larger 4-stroke motors. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks for any input.

Location: Contrarian Island | I would think you would be perfectly fine with your 4 stroke....you might not be able to get it down to 2.5 but I have a 175 suzuki 4 stroke i can get down to 2.7 or so in calm winds....you should be fine imo |

| You will be fine trolling with a four stroke. If you get a Verado, you can get the Smartcraft gauges, and with them, you can adjust the speed of the motor lower to slow down. I think you'd be able to get to 2.5. |
