My latest curodo just died on me and I'm looking for a new low profile. I've been a curodo guy for some time but just saw these in a southern bass pro. they look great and tuff, tight drags. Has anyone tried these? I use my curdo for jigs mostly but also small inline spinners and very small jerkbaits. Do you think the 7.1:1 is too high? I've never seen a gear ratio that high, may work great for jigs.

any info would be helpful, not sure if there worth $150

The Revo is the hottest reel in the counrty right now but us in musky country just don't hear about it because it is mainly a bass reel. The Revo has more drag preasure than any other similiar reel on the market, or even larger 6000 or 400 size reels!

Personally I would go with the 6.4 to 1 if I were to use it for musky fishing.

The Revo's are worth every penny you spend on them!! There are different ones that range from $99.99 to $199.99. I bought the STX for $199.99. It is by far the best low profile baitcaster I have ever owned!! No questions asked. I was a big curado guy before I started using this reel. The curado's don't compare to these reels in my opinion. You won't be disappointed if you get one.

I would be very careful with a new Abu. They always have issues for many years on their reels before they kind of fix them. I would stick with a Shimano or other similar reel in that style. Shimano and Daiwa have that low profile reel down to a science. Abu on the other hand is still working on a round reel that will hold up.

Looks like the curodos are now $200? wasn't expecting the 70$ increase. I'll give the revo a try thanks for the help guys.

hard i'm guessing you are not talking about low profiles when you say "round reels" are you? I think you mean the 5500, 6500's.. I usually use C3's and havn't had any major problems when they are new.
