Are there any baits on the market, that you love to use but as soon as they come out of the package you change out the split rings and hooks? I now most basement baits come with quality component but which mass made lure really worry you?

A lot of them. But then I'm always tinkering with things.

One thing I alway do in change out TopRaider hooks. Replace them with 7/0s and many of the bucktails get bigger hooks as well.

With most new baits, I will try to twist the split ring right away...if it twists easily I'll replace it with a bucher ring.

Change split rings on anything with small, weak split rings...dawgs, storm lures, cranes, etc...

I also hate triple split rings as they are to soft, spongy and are easily stretched apart.
