I have a dual console 1600 Deep V with a 90 johnson 2 stroke oil injected.
How would that compare to gas consumption to a 1900 Pro V with a 200 merc EFI?
I understand their two different setups, just wondering? Half the gas? 1/4 of the gas?
Thanks
Shep

If you stay off the throttle, the 200 EFI isn't all that bad. Not as good as the Optimax, but not as bad as a carbed motor. But, boy, they will suck the fuel when you open them up. JoMusky has a 200EFI, and he seems to like it well enough. He trolls with it, too.

from a 90 to a 200 is pretty significant move and one you'll feel in your wallet for sure ... i run the 200 vmax which i would assume is comparable in fuel economy (nice word eh?) to the efi merc at the same size ... if i run it hard it can be pretty thirsty. and with a 40 gallon tank, you do the math on filling the tank these days. it ain't cheap to run a big 2-stroke.

i have a merc 175 efi....if you open it up i think i can see the gas gauge going down ....at about 35mph it does ok on gas...but i like to go fast...

it is surprisingly really good on oil though....

i'd suspect if you run it at optimal rpm ranges you will be about the same in gas usage....

I had a 175 EFI, same rig bn is referring to. I got rid of it due to economy, I loved the boat, hated the economy, and I drove it respectably. Most always between 3400 and 4200 rpm which in that rig equated to 33-38+mph depending on conditions.

I now have a 618 VS with a 135 Opti and I can run slightly faster than I did with my 690/175efi and I use about 1/3-1/2 of the fuel I used to.

EFI's are fairly dependable motors, Merc's were good, Yami's were bullet proof but you really need to drive them in the 3-4,000 rpm range or you will go broke keeping fuel in the tank, even at that they are not cheap to run. I got sick of gas prices starting to dictate how often I was fishing. Think it through before you make the change, my advice would be to save your money until you can find a boat you like with either a 4-stroke or one of the direct-inject motors, in the long run I think you will be much happier.

Just my thoughts....
