So my dad is getting a 620 DVS and we need rod holders to mount to the rail...I am for sure not letting him go with anything plastic (seen them break with a fish hit/snag)...just curious what the best rod holder was in your guys opinion...I have seen both Down East and Bullet Proof and like them both but it I had to pick I would go with Bullet Proof...what are your thoughts...suggestions

Matt,
Both you mentioned are awesome, but you should really take a look at the Fish Boys as well. They're made by local guy(just moved to Alex) and are rock solid. Not cheap, but the last rod holder you'll ever buy.He can also anodize them to match any boat. Steve

Folbe makes a great rod holder. Designed for the salmon anglers of the Pacific Northwest, these are not plastic. Very versatile, and they lock in the mounts. They are on my new boat this year. I used them last year for muskies and walleyes, and was sold on them.

Perc ... i've got the downeasters and i think they're great, but i suggest you take steve's advice and take a look at the custom ones he's mentioning. i've seen the ones on his boat and they are impressive ... worth looking at for sure, wish i had bought some of them prior to buying the otherwise very good ones i have.
