Location: Omaha, Nebraska | I am looking to buy a rod. What rod in your mind is the best for its price and why you like to use it. What are the advantages to more expensive rods?
Thanks,
Eric |

| Biggest thing I guess is intended usage. Overall best rod I would say my Avid 7'6" Heavy. It will do topwater, bucktails, gliders and suicks, mag bulldawgs. Not everything but pretty close. The Avid series is light, great warantee, model selection, etc Just MHO.

| i would have to say an st. croix avid 8 footer. on top of being an awsome rod the service is unmatched. i broke a 7'6" last year and they sent me a new one in two weeks. i heard the redid the premeir this year but avid handle seems to be more comforable and it is a lighter rod. and the avids have a life time instead of 3 year. |

Location: Davenport, IA | I like St Croix's due to their good service and being American made. My 8'6" Legend tournament is coming this week...I can't wait to use it. |

| After years of believing that a rod was a rod, last year I shelled out the extra cash and picked up a Diamondback. Simply the best rod I have ever owned. Now I own multiple.
My DBs are built by Professional Edge (a great rod at a very good price, competetitive with even the best "stock" rods), but there are multiple builders out there (Thornes, Frank, etc). It's all in what you are looking for in a custom rod.
Anybody looking for a Walleye or Bass rod should check out Keith's stuff too. I see Dan Craven mentioned them in his Walleye article in the most recent Esox Angler. I had Keith build one for my father-in-law as a Christmas gift. I'm not much of a Walleye jerker, but this rod just felt better in my hand than any I had ever held. My father-in-law was very impressed as well...he can't stop showing it off to his friends.
Keith insists that Diamondback is the best Walleye blank on the market. After seeing the rod he built for me I'll take his word for it.
