Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I like the transitions areas out there from rock/weed to the deep water. Get as far off the edge as possible, meaning long casts. I have had muskies there follow out from the edge in 18' or so, and once they get alittle further seem to want to grab and run back for the edge. If I am too close, that's just a follow. Pray for some clouds and decent winds, and you'll do just fine. Watch that rock by Annie Island...
As an aside, one needs to keep actualt depth/distance from the lure in perspective. A fish suspended in 20' over 35' is only the length of the boat away from the surface, and 2/3 the length of my boat from a crankbait. 35' seems veeeeeery deep, but the distance can be covered by a muskie in a heartbeat. |
