I was watching the new Linder Angling Edge video and see Jim uses a spinning outfit for soft plastics, both jig/reaper combos and tubes. I don't think I want to go nuts on an expensive outfit, but would like to know what folks use. Would inshore saltwater rods work? Thanks.

The Shimano Compre 7 foot musky spinning rod with a Shimano 4000 Sahara is what I use, and it works great.

This could be one of those applications where a quality rod is useful. I just had a new one made up custom for me by Dadson rods and it is unreal. They use a telescopic blank so it travel well and the sensativity is great. It has really changed much of my fishing as it is hard to put down...It is a bit costly but I think worth it...I put an okuma reel on it per Scott recommendation and could not be happier..They make great rods and this one is really worth it..Ben

I use a 7' medium action rod that tops out at 20# line. It's a function of the drag to use heavier superlines. Go to gander or Cabellas and try out a few, find one that feels good and buy it.
