Location: Michigan | Anyone have any feedback on Towmaster Trailer Tires. I have $200 in Gander Mountian gift certificates and the two brands they carry are Carlisle and Towmaster. Thanks.

| Trailer tires is always a hot debate in some circles. You will always hear many voices saying get Goodyear Marathons and stay away from Carlysle.
To be honest, if you have the certificate, use it on either brand. Most, if not all tire failures come from tires that are improperly taken care of. Many people go out and get new radial tires for their trailer and don't balance them. A few months to a year later (depending on how much use the trailer sees) the tires blow out or have tread separations....which should be expected when the tires are not balanced. They bounce and wobble, then when the shocks are not dampened by absorbers, it will transfer to the trailer, then the boat.
biggest issue: Get any radial tire balanced, keep them inflated correctly, out of the sun when the trailer sits for long amounts of time, and rotate them like a regular car/truck tire and they should last a while.

| Maybe, Steve. I take excellent care of my equipment. And I always make sure my tires are properly inflated. And they are balanced. That did not prevent one of my tires from failing after only 20 miles on the highway. Nearly destroyed the trailer on that side, when it let go. And many others have had the same experience with that tire. Tire was a Carlisle built by Goodyear. They took care of me when I filed the claim, and I now have Goodyear Marathon's. I never worried about tires before. Now, it's always in the back of my mind when traveling with the boat. |

Location: Athens, Ohio | Towmaster Trailer Tires are also sold by Boaters World. Now, I've never heard of them but why not call Boaters World and ask their customer support folks about them? I've heard a lot of bad things about the Carlyles and own a couple of them that -so far! - have been OK. m |
