What is the best leader for a soft plastic swimbait, like a Storm Swim Shad, LA Slider or a LunkerCity Salt Shaker? When I use a normal bucktail or jerkbait leader they seem to swim on thier side. They dont seem to run right. Anybody have any tips or tricks when using these baits?

I use 80 lb. flourocarbon and it works great. I think you would be able to use sevenstrand as well. If your swimbait is turning on its side, you are either reeling too fast, or the bait itself is out of balance, damaged, bent, or something else. I use the storm wildeye's, castaic's, optimum swimbaits, and charlies quite a bit.

I used to use NO leader, but have switched to 80 lb. fluoro. I think the fluoro is your best bet. I couldn't really notice any difference in action between no leader/leader.

In clear water flouro works very well.AS far as the bait "leaning" to one side during the retrieve I wouldnt worry too much about it,that just kind of gives it an injured fish look. Some of the swim baits swim straighter than others for instance the SHACK ATTACK models which are available up to 12" in both fast sinking and suspended options will track straighter. They also feature a breakaway rear hook assembly which I like a lot as it keeps the bait from being torn up after one fish. They have very high quality components and are the class of the field when it comes to swim baits.Reasonably priced also.I throw swim baits A LOT and like the slightly subtler action on shack attack models.

Chances are it's the bait not your leader that is causing the problem. I use multi strand leaders on all of my swimbaits and they work fine.

I wouldn't go to the floro unless you are fishing clear water.
It's pretty easy for a big fish to eat a swimbait and cut the floro leaders. IMHO.
