| I will be heading to Lake Vermilion the third week in August for the first time. Actually this will be the first time fishing in Minnesota. At that time of year would you prefer to fish the East or West end or would you suggest one end over the other for a first timer? I have been looking at places to stay and just cant pick a place till I have a better understanding of which side I should concentrate on. Also, I will be renting a boat which might play a part on the decision from East or West.
Thank you for any and all info.

| J,
There's fish all over this lake, you can't pick a wrong side. The east end has darker water and might have bloom in August, the west side is clearer and has more weeds. There may be more resorts towards the west side as well. Pick up a guide for a half day or more to shorten the learning curve, and have a map ready to mark up. You will have fun. |

| Capt.,
Thanks for the help. I'm going out with Matt Snyder of Chad Cains guide team so that should be helpful. From your description of the two sides I would guess that the East side would suit me better since I have been fishing the Chip since I can remember. I'm accustomed to the dark water and algae blooms, I don't like clear water very much. Thanks again,

Location: Lake Vermilion Tower, MN | Perhaps your guide can help you with a few of these questions???
If not, you may want to check out this website for lodging info www.lakevermilion.com
Vermilion Dam lodge, Retreat lodge and White eagle resort have the best rental boats available for their customers.
Trolling motors and electronics aren't always available at many of the resorts.
