Posts: 1168 | Unexpectedly I have an opportunity to sell my current boat. Don't know if it will happen for sure but I want to have something lined up before I pull the trigger on selling the current one. I have a line on a 2004 Ranger 618 for a very decent price and am wondering what the pros and cons of this style are. I'm looking at the console version, not the tiller version. So if anyone runs a 618 with a console I'd really like to hear what you like and/or dislike about them. What would you change, and so on. I just want a kneejerk reaction for those of you that have a boat like this or have fished out of one. I am keeping my mind open to other brands and different styles that Ranger puts out but like I said, I've got a really really nice price on one and want to know in advance if there is anything about it that would annoy the crap out of me before I make such an investment... Thanks a ton....

Simply my opinion but I think that layout is the best layout there is for single consol boats geared towards musky anglers.

Posts: 1168 | Thanks Mark, I agree on the layout issue. My current boat is relatively similar in layout to a 618. It's a Lund Mr. Pike and ideally I'd like to stay with that type of style with the ability to walk around the entire perimiter ontop of rod lockers or in the 618's case a livewell. Thanks again, Bob

Posts: 1936 Location: Eau Claire, WI | Hey Bob if the 618 doesn't work out for you you may want to take a closer look at Tuffy's Rampage 18. These are an awesome boat with a very similar layout. Couple guys I know fish that boat and absolutely love it.

Posts: 14 Location: Burnsville, MN | I've had one for a little over a year now and absolutely love it. I have a Yamaha 150 (2 stroke) and it moves very well. I have 4 children under the age of 10 and fish with them a lot and with all the room in the midsection it's a dream and keeps them out of the brink. I have the rear deck...a must in my opinion. I like that it is a single axle trailer, I can move it by hand. A glass boat will just plain fish better as far as wind drift and steadiness of the boat while fishing. Email me if you have any other questions [email protected]. Todd
