I got a new Bucher Dancer Raider over the weekend and was trying it out right at dusk last night. I noticed this lure runs deeper than my other walk-the-dog type lures like the Jackpot and at times almost disappears below the surface running just an inch under the surface. What I found interesting though is I'm retrieving right at dark last night and about 15'-20' from the boat it gives off a loud bang as the intenal rattle or knocker slams against the back of the lure and the lure shot a good foot out of the water. What was really weird about it was I never seen no wake from a fish but it was definately a fish that did it. I've never seen a lure just come flying out of the water like that without the fish making a surface wake, has anybody else ever seen this? I think a contributing factor was the fact that the Bucher runs low in the water, but still bizarre.

I have one and it bounces too. I have had fish knock it out of the water and have had fish jump out of the water knocking the bait in the air too.

I had a fish grab a topwater last week and it happened 20ft away and I never seen the fish, let alone a wake, just a boil and that was it.

Hey Todd, does your ever go under water on the retrieve? I was working mine somewhat fast and noticed a couple times it actually disappeared from the surface. Seems like a good one though.

Yes mine does too when it bounces. Not a bad thing I figure, the lure is breaking the surface. Not the loudest one either but a good bait and one of just a couple walk the dog topwaters that are plastic.

I agree, I think it'll give it a little more erratic of a retrieve that just might trigger a hit at some point.
