Headed to Leech Lake near Walker Narrows mid July for some Musky Fishing, looking for suggestions on lures or areas to target. Pm if preferred, thanks.

Depending on water temps, the muskies will start moving up onto shallow rocks at that time of year. If you are fishing a rocky or rock/sand point, you’re in a spot that can hold a muskie. Weeds are a little tougher to find depending on what part of the lake you’re on, but they will hold fish at all times. If you’re not familiar with the lake, it can be a little intimidating because a lot of the structure looks the same, but it always amazes me how fish seem to be everywhere out there. If it looks like a musky spot, it probably is. It doesn’t have to be a known musky hangout to hold fish.

I fish Leech almost exclusively. And in July I'd still be looking for cabbage. Grand View Flats might still have cabbage- have not been there for a long time. It's a well known big fish area. Walker Narrows has some great reeds on the south side and has some excellent bass fishing there. Get into Agency Bay. There was cabbage there a couple years ago just west of the Roosevelt Canal as you head to the Agency Narrows. Agency Narrows has a lot of great reed beds. In Walker Bay there will be opportunity to deep troll the humps. They top out at about 32 feet coming out of 48 feet. Great place to look down and see your bait working 14-20 feet deep. You can go west from Walker Bay and go under the highway into Kabekona Bay. Super clear water, lots of cabbage, reeds, rock reefs, and a great spine of rock that runs east to west in the middle 1/3 of the bay. Have seen many big fish there. If you want to come east of Walker Narrows hit the North Bar. Biggest fish in my boat-52- was caught there in August on a crank bait. Anywhere around Pelican can hold fish. Uram Bay tucked into a southern corner just after you pass Stony Point might be a good option too. And I agree with the first reply that there are big muskies everywhere on Leech.

The major main lakes points are a good starting place. Then add some islands and reefs, and you should start to see some fish. Bucktails and topwaters are hard to beat then. Good luck!
