Location: 31 | In late Fall 2019 one of my EZ Steps broke off my 2015 Ranger trailer while my friend was stepping on it, we were fortunate that the only injury was a deeply skinned shin after he slammed into the lower step in the dark. It certainly could have been a lot worse, even tragic. When I contacted EZ Step about a possible warranty replacement they refused, and I decided to just repair it myself rather than order a whole new system. I noticed the faulty EZ Step design has since been changed on their website, so the newer models should be okay. Location: 31 | Yes, in picture #3 you can see where the Ranger step broke off the trailer, and the corresponding hole in the trailer in picture #1. In picture #2 you can see where we welded the original Ranger step back on with a reinforcing plate and gusset to help support the additional force generated by adding the EZ Step. The problem with attaching the EZ step to the original Ranger step is that the Ranger step was never intended to have an extension added to it like that, and that's why it failed so miserably. Like I said in the earlier post, they have since corrected that problem. I just checked back on their website and found this picture that shows the way they did the new step configuration that simply bypasses the original Ranger step on the winch stand. Posts: 1763 | Glad everybody was ok but I don't understand how it's a Ranger problem. The trailer didn't come factory equipped that way did it? I liken it to guys who cut and install their own swing-a-way tongue on a trailer. It's not the trailers manufactures fault if it fails. Just my observation.

Location: 31 | Absolutely not Rangers fault at all. Seems obvious that EZ Step realized their mistake early on, that's why they changed the design. While on the subject; I’d been noticing the winch and bow stop were kind of wobbly, same thing with my last Ranger. So while the winch stand was apart to do the step repair I discovered the metal and washer on the winch stand was mushrooming, and that's why it wobbled. I added these 3/16” steel reinforcements inside the winch stand as I put it back together, problem solved. Attachments ---------------- winch stand reinforced .jpg (21KB - 437 downloads)
