Location: Eau Claire, WI | I have always had a fancy for "tail" baits so when MMT came out with the Squirly Jake I thought I would pick up a few to give them a try. So last winter I had Stan Durst paint up a couple of Squirly Jakes for me...and mighty fine job he did.
Here's what I am experiencing... Seems the tail has taken most all of that great wobble that Jakes are known for out of the action of the bait. Doesn't seem to matter if I'm casting/ripping them and today I tried trolling one and had the same results. Seemed it trolled ok above 3.2 mph but below that it lost most of it's wobble...
Wondering if anyone else has had success with this bait...or what your thoughts may be...

I know what you are talking about. I think the tail is to thick and short for that lure.
I would like to see a longer, thinner tail. Something like the squirely Burt.
I would throw the regular 10 inch over the squirrly one any day.

Location: oswego, il | I tail creates resistance and will straighten out most baits. I would think if you modified the lip by glueing a piece to the front of it making it a wider surface it may take care of that problem. |

Location: In the slop! | I feel the same way, just love the regular 10" but was not impressed with the squirly one. The wobble is the thing, (I think Doug Johnson coined that one). My one and only squirly jake will be going to the lure swap in Chicago if anyone is interested. |
