Location: Racine, Wi | I hit Pewaukee on Saturday, and taking a buddy of mine out that had never seen a musky before. I was on the water for about an hour and a half before he got out. On the second spot I fished, I had a nice 40" fish follow up my minnowbait, he went directly at the sucker and hit it. I got into position to stick him, and when I did, my rod shattered into pieces, cutting the line. Bad luck part 1. Then I picked up my buddy and the first spot we hit, another fish took one of the suckers. We got into position again, and I told him to hit it as hard as he could. We got an empty sucker rig back. Bad luck Part 2. 5 minutes later, I was checking the down sucker, and a 45"er was eyeing it up, as I moved it, she inhailed the bait. I stuck her good, and on the first run, she was gone. I reeled in the line to find that the rig came apart. What in the world do I need to do to get a fish on a sucker. I took a break for lunch and went back out, and as I came to the end of my first drift, I had a fish hit the figure 8, and procede to jump into the front of my boat! I had a fat 37"er jumping all around with the bait in it's mouth, and finally got him into the net and back in the water to chill out a bit.

So I should have had at least 3 fish in the boat, and ended up with 1. I will now be tying my own sucker rigs after that day, and shopping for a new rod. |

| I just bought another St Croix 8' Classic Cat Sunday morning at Smokies. Now I have 2 , and they will be the only rods I use for rigging. Brian ordered and received 7 last week, and they have 4 left. Better hurry before they're gone!
I tie some of my own rigs, and also use the Maina rig. The rigs I make are like the Extreme ones, with flouro. So far, so good. |

| I have been using the Uni-Knot. Easy to tie, strong, and is a good knot for Flouro. Not sure what knot the Extreme One uses. You can also put on a spot of Super Glu to keep it from loosening. |

Location: Racine, Wi | Thanks Shep. Now I can keep myself busy this week. As for the rods, that might be a while with the wedding fund putting a spending freeze on these things. I need overtime at work to increase the rod fund. Heh Heh heh. Thanks again Shep! |
