| Picked up a bull dawg rod 9' heavy lure rating 3-15 oz, for throwing mags and pounders. Now seccond guessing, wondering if its going to be stiff enough. I got a great deal on it and my buddy that was with me at the show talked me into it. Thoughts?

Location: Apparently where the Muskie aren't | I think you will be fine. I don't know if you tried casting a pounder with it or not but you have to remember that a pounder is a very heavy lure (hence the name pounder) and no matter how stiff of a rod you throw it on it is still going to feel heavy. If you hang a pounder off the end of a broom stick it will still feel crazy heavy. Just bring it out and start casting with it. Start with shorter casts until you get used to the weight. The rod defiantly isn't underpowered though. Ive throw mag dawgs on a rod that is rated for lures 3-8 oz and is only 6'. It's a old jerkbait rod and is very stiff. Those mag dawgs, even regular dawgs put a bend in it when I go to cast. If you don't normally cast large lures it will defiantly feel very weird when you start. I know it was for me. Just trust the rod rating and practice. |

| you will be fine but def practice throwing big lures...I believe a pounder actually weighs 13oz if not mistaking and seem roda are slightly under rated to be safe....St Croix just changed there rating 2-6oz to 3-8oz I believe and nothing changed about the Rod you should have no problem |
