Muskie Fishing -> General Discussion -> Wisconsin Dells Muskie Lakes?

Subject: Wisconsin Dells Muskie Lakes?

I am taking a family trip to Wisconsin Dells the first week of August. I want to get my brother in law in the boat for his second muskie trip. I would like some advice on what lakes or river systems to hit. I would prefer to get Jeff on an action lake.

You might try Redstone lake which is not too far from there and it holds quite a few fish.  Little Green is not a long haul either and is loaded with muskies though gets lots of pressure...lots.  Petenwell flowage is the closest flowage on the river with a 'fishable' population, but far from a numbers lake.  Castle Rock has a few, but you'd be better off on one of the above if action is your goal.  There is also a couple lakes to the east of the dells that contain muskies.

I live just outside the Dells and attempt to fish here. Reef Hawg has not steered you wrong however, I would call any of our lakes numbers lakes. If you want numbers, I'd try the Madison Chain. Waubesa or Monona would be your best bet. But, there the weekend boat traffic can be heavy and floating weed garbage from the props gets out of control at times.

Sluggo, if you read this maybe you've got a suggestion?

Thanks for the names of a few lakes. Where is Redstone Lake located I do not see it on the map? Also, how navigable is Redstone since it would be my first time on the lake. I am familar with Madison, so maybe this would be a better choice?

Redstone is north and a little west of Reedsburg. Near Lavalle if that helps. There's a good county launch on the north end off of CTH F. The lake is very navigable. Shouldn't have any problems.

Let us know how you do and where you decide to go.
