Posts: 202 Location: Angola, IN | Hey Guys, Okay, this isn't about muskies. But next week I'll be down in the Keys for a week. I gotta do me some fishing.

Posts: 33 | I've fished with Captain Dennis Forgione out of Miami...he's connected pretty well and could set you up with a good guide. His site is www.freespoolsportfishing.com. Also, I've fished with the guides at Marathon Key who fish out of the marina that has a store shaped like a lighthouse (you can't miss it), but I can't remember the name. I'd definitely recommend doing the flats for barracuda, shark, tarpon, permit, or whatever, in addition to a trip out for the big boys. Good fishing. Mark

Posts: 378 Location: In the slop! | Be sure to give us a report when you get back. I would like to fish the Keys before I get too old. In the winter though, when it's not so hot and humid. Fishing that skinny water on the flats looks to be right down my alley. Good luck, Mike Jensen.

Posts: 58 Location: Edina, MN | I fish the Keys quite a bit and if you are looking for the best bang for your buck, I would recommend a flats trip. Offshore for dolphin, marlin, sails etc is fun but is much more spendy. Best fishing in June will be for tarpon, permit, sharks, barracuda, and bonefish. All of these can be had inshore on lighter tackle. I have fished out of Islamirada with good success. Many good guides available. I have always run my own boat so cannot recommend one in particular.

Posts: 654 Location: MPLS, MN | Fishing the keys is awsome. I agree the flats are where it's at. Nothing like a big Tarpon or Permit. Also while sight fishing for them you can cast for barracuddas that are all over the flats. Don't waste your time on a big boat with 20 other people not catching much. Fish the flats. I can't stress enough trying to get a big permit. They just bulldog and don't seem to ever get tired. I'll try to go every year. Good Luck
