Did you have a fish on that hooked itself, or you thought it was a weed/log, or didn't really even feel it that much and its been on for a while and you suddenly realized it? Do you always set the hook even when its been on for a while? Or, use heavy pressure to keep the hook in place?

I have reeled in suckers before to check them, no particular reason and felt alot of weight like weeds only to see I am feeling in a musky.

I thought I snagged a little weed recently so I just ripped the rod a bit to free it up. When I did a nice upper 40s fish came up sideways on the other end of the line and the hooks came out once the line went slack. Man was I upset the fish got away but had no idea it was a fish at all since it bit so lightly. I always try to keep heavy pressure on them if I know its a fish.

Never.
Always.
Never give up....ever.
Sometimes I run around the front end with weeds, just to be sure.
