Posts: 470 | Hey all, Just bought a Humminbird 999 unit and I was wondering if anyone knew if Webster lake was on either the Lakemaster or Onboard Map Chip? Any Help Appreciated! RandalB

Link here (or copy and paste) and scroll all the way down to Manuals and then select Lake List to see the Indiana lakes supported on the chip: http://www.humminbird.com/Products/GREAT-LAKES-MSD/ Your Humminbird may have a resident map of Webster Lake built into the unit, but if you insert the chip into your unit, it would control the display and if it isn't on the Lakemaster chip, it would show nothing. Here's an example: I launched on a Wisconsin lake called Dairyland Flowage and an older version of the Humminbird chip made it look like I was carving new trails in farmland. When I removed the chip, my Humminbird unit showed that I was on the lake. They now have that lake mapped in HD with the latest version of the Wisconsin chip and it's wonderful. I don't know anything about the Onboard Map Chip. Good Luck

Posts: 470 | Thanks for the reply Rotor, I looked up the Lakemaster site and saw Webster wasn't listed, I'm wondering if the unit's onboard maps has it. I bought the Autochart pro software, so I'll be making my own shortly anyway. Just wondering... RandalB

Posts: 157 Location: West Central WI | Just power your unit up on the boat or by separate AC to DC power converter (I got one at my dealer and that's what they use to power their displays). Go to the map page and scroll around to find the lake. I zoom way out first to orient myself with known locations and then start zooming in and move the display around to fine tune the location. As I figure out where the lake is, I continue to zoom in until the lake is found and then zoom in closely like you would when on the water and see what is displayed. Hopefully, you'll find something there. If no lake is found, your unit should still make tracks on a blank screen (where the lake should be) and you can follow those again if you find a spot worth fishing again. You can also drop waypoints on significant locations. In the end, the lake may or may not be there. If you just see a blank screen when zoomed in to where the lake should be (it's just not in the database) you can still use it to show where you've been. That's not the best scenario, but still somewhat usable. Good luck.

Posts: 470 | Don't Have it yet Rotor, Anxiously waiting for it to be delivered... It should be a heck of an upgrade from the B+W Pirahnamax unit that came with the boat. In answer to my original question, it turns out Webster is on the Contour Max onboard lake list, so I am golden until I get Autochart Pro up and running. Thanks for the help! RandalB
