It is apparent all of you do too much eating, and not enough fishing! I can barely think of a few names of a place to eat from Phelps to Presque Isle and everywhere in between let alone name one with the best pizza!

Sorry I can't help ya out J. Best of luck to you guys (fishing wise-screw the eating)!

Hey Travis, Once I saw you eat a 1/2 of a sandwich and a can of sardines running from one spot to another...but that was about it...

I think the name of the Old Knockers on Dam Lake is now called Johnny Nicks??? or something like that...It would hold 25 guys but that's about it..I had pizza there 2 weeks ago...similar to Knockers Pizza but with a thinner crust...It was OK/fine...

travis, its a vacation for folks. It is for me now too. I fish thursday-saturday fairly hard, but I leave big fish elsewhere and the bay to go to mani for the 36-44"ers for the fun of action, the mystique of up north, and the stories on Sunday over a hot pizza. The club outing is about the fishing for a day or two, but mostly about getting the same group together year after year.

I plan to call Sayner pub this evening. What is the name of the place that the knockers guy started in St. G?

Jason,
If you are up on the mani chain try a lunch za at the pea patch (rest lake dam)...maybe it won't work for your outing but it's worth a stop...

Cory,
What pizza place in Madison did they work for? Always looking for a good place to eat up north and if they worked at one off my local faves in Madison I would like to give them a shot.

pea patch for za ... yah! a bit north but good stuff if you can live with the loud drunks that tend to dominate that crowd for some reason. good place for a young buck to find love i suppose but tough for an old dog to want to be around during the tourista season.

How about Gooch's Sports bar just a couple miles north of Boulder Jct on Hwy M? Gooch has a banquet room that could easily fit all you guys. And has EXCELLANT homemade pizza. Might want to give Gooch a call. 715-385-9288 or www.goochsaone.com Should be a nice central location for your crew.

I am going to throw The Brick, formly known as The Gaslite, in Lake Tomahawk out there. New ownership, they added a dining area last year and they make a great pie. Might be a little south of what you are looking for but its worth the trip and their prices are reasonable. Good luck & tight lines.

"riverstone for 25 pizza-eatin' musky fishermen .... really???? lmao ... they drinkin' a smooth cab or a pinot with that??"
Very funny and kind of true Sled. Yeah, they have good pizza, but don't think they'd be able to accomodate 25 guys. I don't drink much so I didn't think about the beer/wine thing. Again, funny and point well made.

Did I hear someone mention pizza? About five years ago when we vacationed with four families we ate at the place by The Musky Hunter. Sounds like that was Spangs and it burned down? Some good pizza if I recall. Nice crust. The best one was light sauce, sausage, mushroom, and hot gardiniera.

I never forget a good pizza.

the original spangs is still operating with new owners ... "Spang" Reid has been retired now a few years. the second one that was in Minocqua is the one that burned down.
