How would you know it weighed 50#
Top 10 signs you may have a 50# fish in the boat:
10. Wider than your boots
9. Over 55"
8. 28" girth or larger
7. Can't get your hand around the tail
6. Looks like it ate a small dog
5. You were honestly worried about breaking your rod and reel
4. You had to look at it in the net for a minute to decide if you really wanted to reach in there or not
3. You have to bear hug it or set it on your lap for a picture
2. Your lure is sideways in it's mouth and none of it is sticking out
and the #1 sign you might have a 50# fish in the net:

i am sure i would holler out a big something our two and would feel plenty satisfied (be buzzing)
would not need to brag, just reflect every now and then, that's what is all about for me.

Location: minocqua, wi. | i was at a bar in 3-lakes the other day and saw a replica of the World Record caught in Wisconsin by Louis Spray ... he must have released it or something. anyway, that thing is so huge i can't imagine anyone not believing it, there was a 54" tiger mount next to it and made it look like a minnow.
that World Record was an enormous fish!!! Wow |

| Being serious for a moment... I've always figured that I'd put in a call to the DNR, tell them I had a potential record, and figure out a way to keep the fish alive until they got there. In the livewell it goes. From there? Most resorts have a giant aerated bait tank. Weigh it, measure it, do what you have to do. Then it goes back where it came from. |

LR: Actually Sled, it wasn't a "replica" of the fish, but rather a mock up of the taxidermist's "gross enhancement" of a 54 inch fish made to look like the phoneyed up mount of Spray's bogus "record".
Yep, that bogus WR was an enormous phony, 'er fish, but as we have since learned, they just don't get that big! Fun to look at and dream though... |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Beat it with an AR 15 stock about the head, drag it across the parking lot with a Boga, take bad pictures and claim the fish is 200 pounds, and grill the stupid thing in chunks and feed it to the coyotes out in my back 20.
Or, CPR, post the image, and call it a day. |
