I still think, you need to catch a fish in the first round to advance. This luck of the draw will not cut it. I just went back to the archives and either half of the message arnt there or the post are cut short. I think after the first round, should be a qualify round, then seed the teams from there.
Why because last year there were several teams that made it a couple of rounds blanking and other teams that did great went home, granted this is fair by going by seedings, but not very good to try and run a tournemt. Sorry, that would be like saying, well my team did better than your because we have been around longer, just dont cut it. The best teams overall should advacne. or what about screw the team vs team and ever team in gets one day a month, and the 2 teams with the highest points square off at the end?

Jim

I am mulling the seeding issue. Querstion: do we have complete and total results ON SITE to check against?

Ranger - we have to go 1-to-1 match ups, and the higher seed is going to take it in the case of a tie, or a double blank....otherwise its not matchfishing.

The only thing I would like to see is that you get a time frame to fish in. Doesn't necessarily have to be the same day. Gets into scheduling problems at time.

E.G. Say that both teams have 2 weeks to fish. Team one might fish the 2nd day of the two week period and Team 2 would fish the 7th day. You would have to announce the day you plan to fish ahead of time though (would need to to get household item).

Just trying to figure a way to make it easier to get both teams fishing. Sometimes logistically you can't get both teams on the water on the same day.

Hey Slamr - I agree that it can get very complicated trying to ensure some sort of equity. And you sure can't make changes based on ALL the suggestions you might receive.

If we end up again with fishless teams advancing, while successful teams get beat fair and square, well, so be it. Maybe it adds some spice and an element of dumb luck to the whole deal. I for one can use all the dumb luck I can stumble across.

In the end, I'll be happy no matter how you set the rules.

No quandry for me, my friend. I'm trying to be more relaxed these days, just take it as it comes, you know? I'll be happy no matter what. Just hangin' ten in space and time.

Say, Salmr, why do you keep posting pictures of you smooching with your sister? (At least Steve Worrall told me that's your sister.) You must be a very close family.

(oh, man, I'm really gonna get it for that one!)

If your sister looked like that, YOU KNOW you'd smooch her too.

I just noticed Jim K's post and agree with him. Why can't we do two matches one per month and take the top 10 teams or whatever works out to advance through the qualifiers into the seeded finals. This way you have to earn your seed. This will eliminate luck of the draw.
Slamr what do you think about this? We need to get this rolling so we can plan it around other things.
What about the young vs old thing? Did this die?

Well going to Cave Run now, SEE YA.
