Wow, somebody dug 9 1/2 years for this one. Some blasts from the past. Hope the guy found his tool!

Yes, I quit selling Knipex 8 years ago as well, after running to the post office 174 times!

Stealth Leaders sells them, give John a call 708 / 466 - 5066 He will be at the 2014 Chicago Musky Show, and he should have them at the show to sell.

The BEST PLIERS U can buy, for every pound U apply to the handle the Jaws will make 20lbs, yes 20pounds at the Jaws for 1 pound U apply to the handle.

As true nine years ago as it is today.

Knipex sounds like something you put on your nipples to keep them from getting chapped...

Well, since it turns out that I am the one that started this thread 9 1/2 year ago with a question, I think I owe a measure of thanks to those who answered my question nearly a decade ago. I did go out and purchase a pair of Knipex cutters in response to the advice on this board. These have been a lifesaver, or at least a handsaver. I mostly fish by myself and I have gotten into the habit of cutting hooks on most fish simply to make it easier on the fish and myself. With the Knipex cutters I can do this with one hand. Fishing alone this is mandatory. I did lose a pair to the bottom of the lake sometime during the past 9 1/2 years and my instinct was to stop fishing for Muskies until I got a new pair.

So for those who answered my original question, you may well have prevented me from being pinned to a fish alone in the boat during these past years and there is no doubt that the fish I have boated during that period swam away in much better shape than they would have if you had not educated me.

Thanks!

This is the model I'm using: Knipex 71 12 200 CoBolt Bolt Cutters. If you fish alone this particular model is user friendly in that it it springs to the open position without trying to open it up using one hand. I'd also suggest attaching a line to it and securing it to the boat to prevent loss.

Yes, they are great, especially for clipping the tag ends of wire when tying bucktails.
