Late August and early September have been really good to me locally. Otherwise the middle of June in Eagle river or when the weeds have started turning green again.

On some lakes it would be before and after the pleasure boaters are out!

The old Lindner breakdown was 'summer peak', when the weed beds finally hit full development yet the baitfish schools haven't overwhelmed the lake. In Northern Wisconsin this is usually mid to late June, seems like every specie of fish is on the move and feeding. I know the fall is great, but there's just too much hunting to be done.

Safe ice over green weeds in early winter is a close second.

I like the fall thru late fall. Air is easy to breath and air temps are just my style

I love taking a full week in septeber surounding the full moon to try 10-12 new waters... while using the full moon and working on a quality lake/river I am sure to be a winner!!!!.... last year I fished a new river in central wisconsin, and my boat partner landed a 49inch fish on a water I had fished only a few times without seeing anything.... September is beautiful and furious!

I might mention, rivers are great in early fall when boat traffic dies on lakes... because they die harder on most rivers!!!!

Two times of the year ... Musky opener - that first week or so. The long wait over winter and anticipation makes this time so much fun. The other time is September full moon period ... less traffic, no bugs and fantastic scenery.

First day out in the spring. Fishing usually sucks, but it's great to be back out there. End of June for all species. Labor Day through the end of the season. Last day out in the fall, especially if you get a warm sunny day with no wind. I'd take that day over ALL the others. The lakes are empty, there are no boats, no piers, no noise anywhere. Feeding windows are few and far between, but there's not much better than a late fall day when you have the lake to yourself.
