When you are in Tonka, get the best burger in the TC at the Gold Nugget. It's the Manny's of burgers. It's a black and blue burger, but they actually put the big chunks of bleu cheese mixed in with the burger and then just crust it with the blackening. Then it's smothered in cheddar cheese and caramelized onions, but the onions are cooked down to the point that it's almost like an onion paste. The Blue Door in St. Paul, Matt's, or the Bulldog in NE Mpls are good as well, but the GN burger for some reason is just untouchable.

Sorry! Guess I'll keep my mouth shut next time. You'll have to go and prove me wrong I hope you do. I know there are big fish in the cities. Giant muskies, bass and maybe even a couple decent walleyes but all you ever hear from the metro is; I wish I was up north! Good luck fishing!

Kirby, thanks for the reply....even if it was what I didn't want to hear I'm sure the chances of me doing much better than you are slim, that's why I'm trying to find out all the info I can before I go. I'm sure there are plenty of spots with good fish waiting to be caught, besides it's either fish all day or site-see.

Ike's on hwy 7 and 101 in Minnetonka is my recommendation for dinner.

Sunsets in Wayzata (on Lake Minnetonka) is my recommendation for breakfast.

Lake Minnetonka walleye is my recommendation for fishing... they're very illusive, but if you're in your spot by 1/2 hour before sunset you should get action. There should be enough ice for trucks by the time you arrive.

Good luck!

Go to the Mall of America. It's awesome. Take in a Wolves game, they're awesome too.
Actually going to a pub and getting drunk sounds like your best option.

If you value your sanity, stay far away from the Mall of America.

Actually, the best thing to do if you're in Minneapolis is leave. There are plenty of good lakes in the metro area with great fishing if you're willing to drive 30 minutes.

I live in Chicago area but am up at TC for business regularly. Maybe it's living in a town known for it's steaks joints, but I have to say, I think that Manny's is overrated. However, the TC does have an awesome (and great scene) restaurant in the Butcher and the Boar on 12th and Hennepin. The menu is full of grilled, smoked and cured meats and sausuages. The taps of beers are a half mile long, and if you like bourbon - do not miss the Bourbon Flight! Great patio as well! Open even in winter!

The North Metro Muskies Inc Annual Banquet is on Saturday the 23rd!

I would definitely be interested in going, I'm always trying to learn more and make new fishing contacts. But I just checked the North Metro website and the banquet is on Feb 23. I'm going to be in Minneapolis Jan 21-27.
Thanks for the advise though.

what to do in Minneapolis, I tell you what I'd do man, two chicks at the same time. I always wanted to do that and I figured if I'm in Minneapolis I could hook that up.

After looking at the extended forecast and the highs being in the single digits and below, I don't think fishing in the open is a good idea so now I'm trying to find open seat to fish in a shelter. I found a couple places that rent fish houses, but a big part of ice fishing I always like is the camaraderie of BSing with other guys fishing. If anyone has plans of fishing Jan 22nd-25th and has an open seat let me know. I don't plan on keeping any fish for myself and I'll have all my own tackle. I just want to experience Minnesota ice fishing while I'm in town.
