it confirmed my thought that there's a time and place for each type of material, and a good idea to have some of each on hand since they present a different look and feel in the water. maybe when a fish is following one, a switch to a different skirt material might be enough to trigger a strike?

| Doesn't the hook being locked to the shaft allow the fish more leverage and thus a better chance at throwing the bait?

| Not sure if you were being sarcastic or not........
I thought at first that you could just use the split ring originally used for keeping the hook tied to the shaft to attach another hook, but it appears that the hook actually spaces out the bucktail. |

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | I use them at night, when I will cast them up at the shore, 2-4 ft deep in cover, rocks and trees, and slow roll them, I don't get snag up as much if the hook was free and my hookups are great. |

Location: Toronto, ON | I much prefer a front hook on a split ring so that it swivels on the bait and gives the fish leverage. My favourite of the big blades are the new Boo Dadleys--you may have seen them in Chicago. |

Location: lansing, il | man, there are so many options out there it makes it tough and i even have my own! i use my own stealth bombers, but still use gerrys and probablly a spanky bait more than anything else, they are built solid! for the silicone skirt double 10s you cant go wrong with dc10s or musky customs baits. it is very hard to pick just one. i like and use them all! |

| I switched to the Spanky Baits double-10 out of necessity when I couldn't get a pink DCG in the whole state - but I never went back. The wire is stronger and, more importantly, the blades are much much stronger. The thin blades on the others will twist and bend near the clevis then don't flare or turn properly at slower speeds. I also like getting them made with different amounts of weight: regular for an all-purpose use, lightweight for slow-rolling, heavy for fishing deep. |
