Posts: 983 | Fishysam - 10/20/2016 4:10 PM Show girls are easy with the hs, I fished jr cowgirls (bigger blades) with a rocket and that was ok. Even faster. Sweet so I should have no issue then I think The HS is the way to go for me since Im not using huge spinners

Posts: 424 Location: MN | 25homes - 10/20/2016 3:13 PM nar160 - 10/19/2016 12:59 PM I have a 50 HS. It pulls 10s reasonably well - easily enough where I would never go down to the slower speed. You could save money and get a Toro S or Max Toro with a few less IPT, but I wouldn't pay beast money and not have the ability to do speed. I was thinking the 4.9 but after reading this Im leaning to the 60hs now..The biggest 2 blade I throw is a double showgirl...I would think that the 60HS would handle these no problem without a ton of resistance wouldnt you think? If That is the biggest blade I throw and probably most common which would you prefer the 60 or 60hs I would get the HS if those are the options you're considering. The 4.9 beast 60 is still 27 IPT so not a winch by any means - still a pretty good all around pickup. You have quite a few options in that pickup range though. The Toro S 60 gets 29 IPT and costs quite a bit less for example. The 60 HS is 34 IPT so quite a bit faster, even than my 50 HS. To visualize, here's the IPT of the various Revo Toro models: IPT model 21 Winch 24 Beast 50 26 Toro, Nacl, Toro S 50, Maxtoro 27 Beast 60 29 Toro S 60 31 Toro HS, NaCl HS, Beast 50 HS 34 Beast 60 HS 42 Rocket I wanted a 50 size real with pickup and a large diameter handle - only option is the Beast 50 HS. If you're looking at 60 size reels, I would consider either the Toro S 60 or the Beast 60 HS. The S is cheaper and more of an all purpose reel, while the beast has extra speed and a few bells and whistles if you care. I think either would be a significant difference for you coming from the winch - much easier to get things going at the end of the cast and easier to burn on the retrieve.

Posts: 983 | thanks nar150 I agree I think the HS would better suite me and I think it most likely be the beast 60hs BUT who knows maybe the 50hs but prob go 60

Location: Contrarian Island | why would you ever go with a 50 over a 60? only difference in them is the spool width... so at the end of your casts, you are in essence bringing in much less line on a 50 than a 60... to me, I see zero advantage of a 50 over a 60... ?!

Well 1 for sure advantage is comfort for some people...

Location: Contrarian Island | how? the side plates are exactly the same size.. the reels are just a bit wider... I could see a 50 for a kid but not for an adult...just my opinion...

Posts: 424 Location: MN | On the old Toro and NaCl the 60 was just a 50 but wider. After holding both in my hand (NaCls) a few times I went with the 50 size for comfort. Obviously the tradeoff is losing pickup at the end of the cast. I have not tried both head to head to see how substantial that effect is. The comfort difference is noticeable for me however. On the new ones, that tradeoff is not quite the same. To do the disengaging levelwind, they went with a taller rather than wider spool on the 60. The new 60 vs new 50 has more pickup for a given gear ratio - not quite an apples to apples comparison. The spool widths are similar (identical?) so the same argument as the NaCl 50 vs 60 doesn't quite apply. The larger diameter of the 60 does mean that a given amount of line removed will reduce it's diameter less - at the end of a cast the 60 will lose less pickup, but how pronounced this effect is compared to previous years I don't know. For example, a Toro S 50 and Beast 60 4.9 pull in about the same at full spool and have nearly the same width spool. The 60 will lose a little less pickup at the end of a cast (the spool diameter is reduced a smaller %) but I'm not sure this effect is as pronounced as the old Toros where the only thing changing was spool width. In any case, for me the reason for the 50 is the same. I held both and the 50 is more comfortable. The 60 is taller in this case. Not a gigantic difference - If I came across a good deal on a 60 I might have done it instead. If I was out looking again I would probably see if I could borrow or try a 60 HS.

Posts: 1209 | Nailed it^^^^^^, size 50 for specific ipt, and cause I like the 50 nacl more than 6o for how I hold them I don't Palm. But I agree I can't really tell the difference in beast 50-60. Also the 50's are lighter.... And after fishing 28 days straight that matters
