I picked up some reflective tape at Walmart today. Essentially it's this but in small strips. I put it onto the side of a Jake, and it looks like it's going to be awesome for look - built in scaling and all. My concern is two fold:

 1) It's fairly thick and has an edge to it. I'm wondering if my clear coat epoxy should cover the edge well, and 

2) If I'm going to blend paint over it, as a novice, it seems to me that paint will not stick well to it. I'm wondering if I should put a light single layer of clear coat over it and lightly scuff so that the paint will stick better. That might also help with issue #1.
