Has anyone had the opportunity to spend some quality time with the new(er) 9' 2 piece St Croix Premiers? I would love to hear the thoughts on these rods.

They look great dcorfman! The only downside is that they are not cut in half, this means that the ''split'' section is just beneath the first eye, just like they did on their surfcasting rods....

That is actually an advantage. It allows the rod to maintain the power thought the butt section and the natural curve of the blank under a load rather than having the ferrule in the middle of the blank where there would be a better chance of failure under a heavy load.

It's showing these 9 footers weighing 17 and 18 ounces......thats alot heavier than most rods out there
