| I'll be fishing the kawarthas and haliburton lakes in ontario the first couple weeks of musky opener. When looking for musky at this time of season what areas are you searching for. Also what presentations do you traditionally throw at this time of year. Looking forward to getting out and want to have some spots prepared. |

| Howdy,
Ive fished that area for 15 years including the opener. I would say that early in the season there are muskies in the same spots you would find them most of the time (shallow, flats, weed edge).
That said, I have done better with smaller baits (a relative term now a days) and fishing shallower than usual. Lots of fish in 3-5 feet of water. Obviously you need to try all locations, shallow vs. deep, bait size, etc but I think most people would be surprised about the shallow bite.
Expect to catch more smaller fish (with the occasional big one) early in the season for obvious reasons.
