Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | So I built a few single bladed baits over the weekend and I was thinking to myself. Do Fluted blades really thump harder then non fluted blades? Then I wonder if I use a normal mag 10 and a mag fluted 9. their shape isn't really comparable either. So there is that too. I see a ton of single bladed spinner baits that don't have fluted blades, and a ton that do. I built 5 singles this weekend, two fluted and three non. Just curious what the opinions are of the guys on this site. Even if one does thump harder I'd still keep using both as they will both have their place I'm sure. But any insight, facts or opinions are appreciated. |

Location: Detroit River | I've built with both fluted & non-fluted & I couldn't tell a difference. If anything the non-fluted might have a slight bit more thump. The fluted has a different flash that's broken up more than the non-fluted. |

| I would think that at night with no light or in areas where there may be thick cover between your casting area and where potential muskies lie, the fluted may give off just enough more thump to lure them out... but where any light is present, the regular blades will have more flash. Willow blades will give some amount of flash in between the others, but with little thump... though they will sink fster. Am not expert, but that's how I see it anyway. |
