Random quote: Muskies are nasty. They stink. They taste bad. They are hard to catch and will disappoint even the most devoted angler. The lures required cost more than some women's jewelry. The rods and reels require a remortgage of the house. The boat is always worth more than the tow vehicle. Sure beats the hell out of golf.

Here are 5 crankbaits that I converted to be squid imitations, all with varying degrees of phosphorescent glow paint embedded in the epoxy. I'm not sure where the inspiration for the orange sweetpotato came from but I might have been drinking that night.

How does it affect the swim action of the crank? Do you have a water footage you could post?

I don't have a video of the movement but I've fished similar lures in Alaska for sea bass, halibut, rockfish, and salmon and the presence of the tail diminishes the wiggle found in a bare or painted bait without the tail. Since squid don't propel themselves through the water the same way fish do I don't think it's much of a detriment. These are basically fished as straight line jerk baits and have been as successful as using herring for bait.
