I'm interested in getting one of the new GoPro Hero3s and am deciding between the Black and Silver. Its $100 difference and it the Black seems like it can shoot higher quality videos and also has the wireless remote. Is it worth just paying the extra $100 because it seems that I will want the remote anyways which costs $80 already.

Anyone have any thoughts as to what I should do?

Thanks!

I don't have any experience with gopro stuff, but I don't see the need for super high quality 1080+ filming. This is personal opinion obviously, but unless you are making an actual tv show I see it as unnecessary. I film in 720 at 30fps, and when I upload it to youtube it looks just as good as the stuff filmed on gear that costs at least 30 times as much than what I have.

My suggestion - I would not do the gopro silver hero 3 or 3+.

I would either save a bunch of money and do the gopro white edition, or go for the black hero 3 or 3+. The black 3 can be had a pretty good price and includes the remote. The gopro white is a great value - can film in 1080p @ 30fps or 720p in 60fps.

Also, remember to budget for extra batteries (wasabi batteries are an awesome value), mounts, and a memory card.

I have the white camera and love it, and I recently added a black 3+. Looking forward to using the black 3+ as my primary POV camera and then using the white for secondary footage. Will also use both for a spring bear hunt.

I'll end with saying a gopro is the best piece of outdoors equipment I have ever spent money on. No question.

Personally I went with the white 720@60frames is perfect quality for casting.
I would save the money and do some searching around there are good deals to
Be had if you shop around. Put the money introverts extra battery and mounts.
Chest mount and head mounts are a must and a good 32 or preferable 64gb card.
Look into getting the Wasabi battery kit plus for 5$ you cannot beat the price for some
TMart.com b atterys . There five bucks and last 45-60 minutes only shy 15-20mins of
factory batterys
