I am going to be replacing my axel on my boat. Axel is coming with new leaf springs already attached. I am able to drive the trailer a short distance so I am planning on putting the boat in the water and tying it up at a buddies and then working on the trailer without the boat. Just curious whose had to do this and whether it was difficult or not. I am getting the axel from the trailer company. I would think that since the springs are already attached and just needs to be bolted to the frame that this will take any guess and alignment work out of the equation. This is a single axel Bear trailer. Just looking for any input.

I would be prepared to: A) replace all mounting hardware-bolts washers and nuts ect
B) use impact gun to remove or torch/grinder to remove existing.

The stuff may come off with hand tools and some penetrating oil...if you are lucky. The worst part is getting the old off, once that is done it is easy.

Good luck

Location: Not far enough north!
I have never seen an axel on a boat. What is it?
Sorry couldn't resist...

Don't for get to rub some grease on the nylon bushing in the top of the leave springs. The new axle should come with them if not go buy new ones and put never-seize on them. Your you will be the squeaky guy at the boat launch.
