| After my engine began running on one or two cylinders under power leaving my daughter and I limping home in the dark, I figured it was a bad plug and nothing else. Ran good in neutral, but died under a load. I went to the service center in Orr which is a great place if you ever need help when you are at Vermillion.....anyway, the tech produced a Service Bulletin from Mercury warning of failed ignition coils and that all of them should be replaced if a problem occured. This SB covered Optimax motors from 75HP-225-250 ProXS. Serial #'s from 1B421465-1B785148. I wish I would have known about the problem before I left because it cost me the last few days of my trip, but you're only covered by this SB if you have problems. Just a heads up for any of you planning a trip. You might want to check your Serial# and take preventative steps so you don't wind up stranded like me.

Location: Hayward, WI | Also covers 40-60 efi 4 strokes 0t980000-1c104332. But Mercury will not fix until there is a failure, they are not replacing all coils in the affected range. |
