I have the 898 and 858.. Do I need to run both GPS pucks? I had the 898 first than added the 858. I want to be able to mark way points on one and have it come up on both.... Do I have to put the 858s transducer on also? I thought I could get away with running only the SI transducer and than just connecting the two with the Ethernet cable... But its not working... What more do I need to do too get these bad boys too work together?? thanks everyone..

you need a interlink unit to mark way points on both units..there 120 bucks but can get them on ebay for like 100

You do not need the interlink. The ethernet will do what you want. One gps puck and one transducer.

hit menu twice go to network menu then network source setup. There should be options gps, transducer, temp etc. that you can scroll over to and down. Make sure that the check boxes are checked on. This needs to be done on your slave unit, which I assume is the 58. Both units need to be on as the one with the gps puck and transducer plugged in is the master unit. It may take a minute for the 58 to recognize that the 98 is sending an ethernet signal and give you the option of the check boxes.
