| Anyone have any experience fishing Cedar Lake in NW Ontario? I just found out tonight that I will have and extra week this summer to take a trip. It is kinda late, I have checked a few lodges and they are all full for the only week I have left. Cedar Lake has a cabins available for the week I can go. Anyway, I have been told it is a good lake but it is stained like Wabigoon. True/false . . . any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Location: New Hope MN | It's a 6000 acres lake with 6 or 7 resorts on it. clear on the west side. slightly colored on the east side.
Plenty of better lakes closer IMO. |

| Cedar is a real pretty lake with a lot of walley, perch, smallies, northerns and muskies. Just like all the web sites say. Wabigoon seemed to have more of the big muskies (if that's what you're after). I've also seen much larger walleye out of Wabigoon but not the same numbers. I stayed at Indian Point Camp, the owners were great and fishing didn't start until the crack of 9 and I saw guys with big, big fish. The guys who fish Wabigoon regularly will tell you that the fish don't even start biting until mid morning.
Something you won't have on Cedar, that Wabigoon is famous for, are the prop killing rocks. Wabigoon is a "muddy" looking lake and Cedar is somewhat stained but not bad. I fished Wabigoon last year with my son and loved every minute of it. Well except when we hit a rock with the motor and when we could smell the paper mill and when kids would tear across the water blasting their stereos. I fished Cedar once and loved it. It's nowhere near as crowded, the only buildings you'll see are camp cabins, the only boaters are other fishermen and you will not smell a paper mill. We're going back to Cedar again this year. If I had a choice between Cedar and Wabigoon I would definitely fish Cedar. It's more of what a "drive to" Canada lake is all about. Unless you're after a big (huge) muskie. You stand a much greater chance of boating a big muskie on Wagiboon. |

| i fished cedar last year for the first time, more exploring than anything else. It is a great lake, and we saw some monster fish. One was easily 53-55 inches, and the average fish hooked/saw was over 40+. If you get lucky with the weather and know what you are doing you shouldn't have a problem catching some nice fish |
