I've been fishing the Cass Lake area lakes for many years, Lake Andrusia mostly. Within the last few years I've really gotten into muskies. Anyways, during the summer months when the water temperatures rise and the algae blooms I have trouble locating fish. When it heats up do they move away from structure into open water? And if so what is the best way to locate these fish? For as much time i put into muskie fishing i feel like i should be catching more fish. Thanks.

Yes...in the heat of the summer (above 76 degrees) the bigger fish (>42) will drop down to cooler water (on the big lake anyway). They will generally suspend over or near the schools of whitefish/ciscoes. Problem is the forage base is massive and the muskies are very nomatic contantly roaming so their hard to target. The weed based parts of Cass would be your best bet as by this time the weeds have fully developed with pre-dawn and night fishing a being a good option. Catch rate is about 40hrs per fish on Cass and average 45" on the big lake or 40" on the others. You can narrow this time frame with right place right time, but that you have to feel...you can't just read about it...only time on the water will get you in sync with the environment.
