I thought I recalled someone mentioning that Illinois has speed trap cameras setup at their construction zones and if you get caught doing even 1 MPH over, you get a crazy ticket. Is this still going on, if so, is it statewide or just certain zones?

I'll be leaving next weekend from Indy to drive to LOTW and just wanted to see what the deal was... any info would be appreciated.

Don't know if they're still up for sure---they were when we left for the opener in June. A guy I know was doing 54 in a 45mph zone and got himself a $745.00 citation---OUCH! Might wanna wait to drop the hammer until you cross the WI/IL state line. Safe driving to ya--- I'm heading to Canada on the night of the 12th so I'll be out there too. -----Jobu

They sure aren't using them in the Chicago area. Was up there last weekend and I was the hazard trying to 45 in construction zones. Everyone, and I mean everyone, was st 55 mph or higher. But I believe the warning is accurate and carrect. You speed through a construction zone w/ a marked speed limit and you'd better have the equivalent of three good baitcast combos ready to donate.

Yeah Illineye--you're right about that. They don't have the cameras everywhere. I just don't wanna get nailed towing my boat---they'll probably charge you DOUBLE for that one. We boat owners have enough extra expenses without having to donate to the policeman's ball, if you know what I mean. Safe driving to all---Jobu
