Just got a Calcutta 400B, my first Shimano reel. Used to stick with Millionaires and Ambassaduers.

My first impression is not overwhelmingly positive, apart from the sexy golden look ,the calcutta does not perform as well as my Ambassaduer rocket!, as far as casting, and in particular setting the the right drag tension is difficult(way too steep), and it is also very jerky!

What is the best workaround for this?, cause I guess it's a super reel if just the drag
ran a little smother.

U should have got the TE !!!!!!! replace your drag washers with a set of carbontex drag washers from SMOOTHDRAGS and apply a lite coat of CAL'S drag grease. The B is a very basic reel, the TE is a reel that is worth the $$$$$

Have to be fair and say, that after a couple of days heavy abuse, the drag has soften up and works just fine know
