| I have one day to fish lower Gb the week of July 5th. I have to travel light and have a small inventory of super shad raps, shallowraiders, f-18's, and a few magnum raps to select from. We will have the whole crawler harness/planer board rig running but I want to dedicate one rod in hopes of un-incidental Muskie and keep the dorkfish off. Would anyone prefer running one in the propwash, or send a crank out on a planer? Or something else? I will make an opportunity to shop if there is any preferred trolling lure or rig suggestions, thanks

| Got to tell you I tried the same set up last summer with my girlfriend and her father who has since passed away. One of the best days fishing I can remember even though we didn't catch much. We fished Sturgeon Bay with not much luck and moved down to the lower Green Bay in the afternoon. I ran one rod with a Slammer in the prop wash and another off the side about 50 feet back with a double ten while we trolled for eyes. Never did get a hit on the muskie baits but did take a beautiful Musky on a minnow harness on the board with a 4 in gulp alive on it. Sometimes you have to try and not catch em to catch em. |

| send a bait out on a planer. vary the depth, but since a lot of eye guys
get ski's to hit while running harnesses, maybe run your bait at the same level
that the harnesses are at when you are smackin eyes.
not to mention, you'll prolly pick up an eye or two since they like the big baits as well.
if i was you, id put out more than one rod. atleast one off each side for safety.
heck, if i was you, i wouldnt be going after eyes n goats at all.
but thats just me 
I hope you have more than a walleye net on board too.
ive seen enough of them slop over the side of the boat while the eye guys are doing
the mexican hat dance looking down at the flopping fish in the bottom of the boat.
ive also seen the result of doing this. just be prepared that is all. good luck |

| Thanks Guys, we did have a few breakoffs earlier this spring on harnesses, no tellin what hit 'em and line was cut clean, since then tied some new rigs, but it has been a long couple of months of stewing over it...Believe me, I would love to troll some big junk around there but I can only get up out of trout country a couple of times a year, so we gotta make the most of our time. With the regular trolling spread selection on board, my boy will want to run his ultralight, leaves me the wildcard rod...what to do, what to do |
