Hey John,
I just back from the Angle and I hate to say this, but color wasn't as big of a factor as throwing the right stuff in the right place. I had caught fish from the bright, flashy baits to the subdued blacks and silvers. But if I was to make any recommendations to start out with...it's as follows:

Bucktails or Spinnerbaits: Use the Flame Blade(Chartruese and Orange) with a Black and Orange bucktail. Anything that is Perch Colored, and the old standby black and silver bucktail. Oh yeah before I forget...try the Chartruese Blade/ Black and Chartruese Bucktail combination. These should move fish and put a few in the boat for ya.

Crankbaits: Perch colored, Firetiger, and Black Perch were effective.

Jerkbaits: Walleye colored, Perch(can you see a pattern here.LOL). and Black and Silver.

Topwater: Anything as long as it's black. I had good luck with a BlackBird and Coot Topraider last week.

Have a great time and I wish ya luck. Let us know how ya did.

catch ya later,
Krappie

John, the bloom had started in a few places, but I believe that most of the bloom was due to the southerly/ southwest wind that pushed all the bloom into some areas of the Angle.Since most of these areas were adjacent to Little Traverse and Big Traverse Bay it's alot of water to push all the green crap over. You shouldn't have any problem finding some clear water on the Angle. Just go out and look for some current area or protected areas and you should be in business. It only takes a day to push the bloom out of an area and you may have clear water that a day ago was getting the pea soup look.

I didn't experience terrible bloom while up there, but we also didn't waste our time in an area that was starting to get "bloomy"(yeah I know that's not a word, but what the hey...we're all musky fishermen that make up words anyway.) [:p]

catch ya later,
Krappie
